The Console Operator Basic Requirements Assessment (COBRA) product is a 4-hour, completely computer administered, pre-hire simulation test that refineries, chemical plants, and pipe line companies are using to identify high aptitude job applicants. The simulation incorporates interactions where the job applicant is directly involved in life-like complex interactions. The value of the tool in identifying applicants with the prerequisite cognitive abilities needed in running modern Distributed Control Systems (DCS) was demonstrated in a series of empirical validations. COBRA is now a standard component of operator selection system and has been used to screen thousands of job applicants.
The simulation has been translated into Portuguese, French, Russian, Chinese and is being used to select console operators around the world.
