| JPS has completed a number of projects for a facility in Singapore to improve performance management of facility personnel. As part of this effort, JPS conducted a work redesign study and a workforce staffing analysis.
JPS evaluated the time required for plant operators and console operators to complete their job tasks. Based on this information JPS calculated the minimum number of employees the plant should retain in their workforce. JPS then made 1 to 3 year projections about the required size of their workforce and the points at which additional hiring would be necessary. JPS analyzed the jobs of plant operator and console operator to identify inefficient, difficult, and time consuming tasks. JPS then identified strategies to redesign these tasks to reduce the time, eliminate errors, and/or improve safety.
JPS overcame significant cultural and language challenges to gain the trust and support needed from the employees to conduct the improvement efforts. At the start of the on-site data collection trip, JPS held initial briefings and throughout the efforts met both formally and informally with key employees. At the end of each site-visit, JPS prepared and delivered summaries of findings and recommendations.
