| Solution: | JPS designed a search tool to help foreign Border
Control Agents effectively identify defense/controlled articles that
pass through their country’s borders. JPS also developed computer
based training to teach agents in the use of the tool. Agents use
the Border Control Search Engine to determine a need for detention,
seizure, or release of an item. The tool explains the generic
process to be followed when inspecting shipments and how the Search
Tool can be used as a job-aid to minimize errors.
The tool employs a simulation to help the user understand the decision making points in the process and make the transition from learning to application a seamless process. The simulation contains a “real-world” scenario to mirror the actual situation that a Border Control Agent may face on the job. The user has access to the Search Tool, the Procedures Manual, and the Border Control Trainer from the PIT. The product has been designed for easy conversion to any language, and is currently available in English and Russian. |
